Beehives and Bouffants: The hottest definition of Women's Hairstyles in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Beehives and Bouffants were the vintage Hairstyle in the late 1950s and early 1960s

During the late 1950s and early 1960s there was a great revival of retro hairstyles among women. The introduction of two subtle hairstyles; beehives and bouffants added a huge impact on how women defined hair. Polished perfection for women meant hair must be tall, round and thick. At my own right—beehives and bouffants sought to answer styles that dominated the second world war (1939—1945)

To achieve beehive and bouffant appearance—hairdressers were required to tease and backcomb the hair. That being said—pieces like hairspray and roller were commonly used to create curly, height, form, shape and sleek finish. The looks were quickly adopted by celebrities like Audrey Hepburn (1929—1993)  and Jackie Kennedy (1929—1994) which helped to popularize.

Hairspray's demand skyrocketed—surpassing lipstick and became a number one most wanted beauty product in 1964. So we can't neglect the fact that the beauty industry survived great at that time. Rollers and gel solutions were phenomenal products among teenagers that used to create a beehive effect.

The enormous amount of effort used to achieve and care for the beehive hairstyle. Frozen cans instead of small rollers became effective for women with curly hair. For a maintained appeal of ornate and sculpt—toilet paper was wrapped around the head during the bedtime. The determination for ethereal beauty was real.

Although these styles were celebrated among women especially for their evocative allure, the shortcomings were real and unbearable. Time consuming and expensive were the noticeable behaviors of bouffants and beehives that made women switch to their natural hairstyles in the mid-1960s.
