Christian Dior (1905—1957) was a prolific French fashion designer and couturier. He introduced "The New Look" collection in 1947 that turned into heat and changed how people perceived Haute Couture. His charming first designs were named by a legendary Harper's Bazaar editor—Carmel Snow (1887—1961) as "The New Look".

Christian Dior brought back the lost feminine ethos as a result of wartime fashions through introducing pieces that accentuated a female form. His face-framing hats added dimension and head-flattering silhouette. His collection that conceptualized femininity to the next levels featured unpadded shoulders, defined pointed bust, a cinched-in waist, middle calf to ankle length circle and tall skirts. His models walked with escarpin heels that added an hobbling-like effect. His collection was sensual, feminine, elegant and gave women a burst of luxury.

Upon dressing international elites—Dior switched his idea to dress women regardless of their social and economic status. Being said—Dior filtered his vision of the feminine silhouette into ready-to-wear and home-sewn clothing. Ready-to-wear is defined as clothes that are produced in large quantities and don't need further iterations from tailors in order to fit your body.

Dior's collection creates an invigorating atmosphere for the renaissance of French haute couture. To create a juxtaposition of Dior's work and women—fashion is an art while a woman's body is a canvas which can be decorated, refined, adorned and transformed to every new collection.

Dior's creativity was clearly illustrated through letter-like silhouettes. The H-line clothing collection introduced in autumn 1954 featured thin silhouettes yet curves and waist revealing by flattening the bosom and elongating the torso.

In the spring 1955—Christian Dior introduced the A-line collection—the triangular silhouettes that resembled letter A and featured face-framing hats, narrow and unpadded shoulders jackets and widened skirts featuring structured pleats.

In the autumn 1955—Christian Dior introduced a Y-line collection that featured pieces resembling the alphabet letter Y. He showcased high hats and bulky stoles over sheath dresses.

Christian Dior's New Look Collection was a beautiful sensitive fashions that answered the wartime fashions. Women avidly dressed Dior's designs.
