The release of a fragrance known as mitsouko gave the Guerlain company a more upscale appearance. The perfume's Japanese name emphasized its mystique.

This well-known perfume was inspired by a tale of love in Japan. Admiral Togo, the spouse of a stunning Japanese woman named Mitsouko, was a British navy officer's hidden admirer.

The admiral led the Japanese navy at sea as commander in chief during the 1904 Far East War between Russia and Japan. His young bride was left to wait for the good news of the war's conclusion—the Japanese victory and her husband's victorious return—while managing her nervousness and excitement with poise and dignity. Perfume by Jacques Guerlain bearing her name.

The fragrance is a sophisticated piece with a wonderful balance of fruity accents and woodsy, spicy, and enigmatic scents. The bergamot orange tree's fruit essence is what gives this perfume its top notes. This fragrance's heart notes include peach, rose, and jasmine. A mixture of spices, wood, and oak moss may be found in the base notes.

Mitsouko, which uses synthetic peach fragrance and is luxurious, romantic, and exotic, made history by being the first fragrance to join the Chypre family. It still has the same power to captivate the senses as it did when it was originally released more than eight decades ago.
