Conk: From the 1920s until the 1960s, African American males were fond of this look. Straightening Afro-textured hair yields this result.
Devilock: This look is produced by growing the front of the hair long and combed forward, while the back and sides are maintained short. It gained popularity throughout specific punk music communities.
Dido flip: Popularized by British pop artist Dido, this short, choppy shag style gained popularity.
Double buns: This look, popularized by Princess Leia of Star Wars, consists of wearing two buns on either side of the head.
Dreadlocks: These techniques—backcombing, braiding, hand rolling, or locking in the roots—are typically employed to dreadlock hair into discrete portions. There are many different sizes, weights, and lengths of dreadlocks. This established the Rastafarian hairdo.
The "Duck's Ass," or D.A: hairstyle is produced by raking hair back around the sides of the head. Then, a central split that ran from the crown to the nape at the back of the head was defined by the teeth edge of a comb, giving the appearance of a duck's tail to many. Typically, the hair on top of the head was styled like a pompadour. The back's sides were fashioned to mimic a duck's folded wings.
Eton crop: A more extreme variation on the short crop, with the front hair left longer for style and the back hair chopped tight.
Extensions: Real or artificial hair strands sewed, taped, or clipped into the head to give the person the impression of having thicker, longer hair.
